These days a majority of people have some sort of social media platform. People may think that they only use it for personal reasons & to keep in touch with loved ones, but that doesn’t mean you can’t tap into this. When you consider how many hours a day people potential spend browsing newsfeeds & chatting online, it makes sense that you try to use this to your advantage for your business.
Building a Customer Base
One of the best things you can do when it comes to social media is put yourself out there as a source of knowledge. This can be to do with your business niche, the local community of a mixture of both. Once people realise that you are somewhere they can go to find out information, they’ll start to share this with their friends and family. This is a great way to build your social media presence without having to invest too much time or money in it.
The Right Sort of Social Media
You should try to consider where your potential customers are likely to be spending their time online. LinkedIn is great for business talk and networking, whereas if you have a local based product you might find Facebook is a better way to reach your customers. It isn’t a good idea to just copy and paste the information you’re putting out there between platforms. Instead, the content you’re putting out for consumption should be tailored towards the different types of people that are likely to be reading it.
When To Post
Consider what you’re putting out there & when to publish this. There are different ways to schedule posts in advance and this is highly recommended. For example, if you’re looking to reach parents then posting at 3pm when they’re likely to be thinking of the school run is not a sensible idea. You may need to do some research into when the best time is to post, but this is well worth doing.
